Meeting national standards in Higher Education

Edith Cowan College is registered with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) as an ‘Institute of Higher Education’. TEQSA regulates and assures the quality of Australia’s higher education sector, including universities. As an Institute of Higher Education, ECC adheres to the quality standards required by TEQSA under various legislation, including the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021 and the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018.

The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is the national policy for regulated qualifications in Australian education and training. It incorporates the qualifications from each education and training sector into a single comprehensive national qualifications framework. The AQF was first introduced in 1995 to underpin the national system of qualifications in Australia, which encompasses higher education, vocational education and training and schools.

Industry Association Memberships

Independent Higher Education Australia

Edith Cowan College is a member of Independent Higher Education Australia (IHEA). IHEA is a national industry body that represents a number of Australia’s registered and accredited independent higher education providers, educating domestic and international students. Membership is based on IHEA’s Code of Good Practice which is built on regulatory compliance, strong governance, ethical business models, quality teaching, and student engagement.

Western Australian Private Education and Training Industry Association

Edith Cowan College is also a member of the Western Australian Private Education and Training Industry Association (WAPETIA) – an association of schools and colleges dedicated to fair and ethical conduct and the provision of quality education in Western Australia.

English Australia

English Australia is the national peak body for the English language sector of international education in Australia. English Australia represents over 100 member colleges throughout Australia that provide quality English language programs to students and professionals from around the world. It offers guidance in policy and governance, best practice and professional development for English Language teachers and managers.
